"The Faith of My Father's"
I just finished watching A&E's original movie, The Faith of My Father's, a movie chornalcling John McCain's days as a POW in Vietnam. This movie showed what real torture is: multiple beatings, hanging by your wrists, inhumane living conditions. But this not only showed McCain's POW days; they also showed the times when he is in the Naval Academy in Anapolis, the treatment there, and other aspects of his life. It starts from when he was shot down to when he was finally released.
To me, this movie shows who the real war criminals were; the Vietnamese Communists who ran both the government and the prison that McCain was kept in. If any of those hippies had been in what McCain was in, they would have changed their minds, unless they were still on the pot, so there is no help there.
But what happened to the Vietnam war vetrans after they returned from conflict is just as inhumane; the throwing of shit, the degergation of the troops by using words such as "baby killer" and "war criminals" (which pretty much described the NVA and the VC), and other instances, like "Hanoi" Jane Fonda appearing on Vietnamese AA guns to demoralize our brave men and women in 'Nam. It disgusts me to no end.
Would I recommend this movie? Yes, I would, but I would suggest that young children not be present during its viewing, there are a few graphic scenes and some cursing.
