One Down, One to Go.
3rd Circuit Judge, and Supreme Court nominee, Samuel Alito passed the Judiciary committee by a party line vote of 10-8. The Senate will be debatting his nomination tomorrow, and, hopefully, have a vote by the end of the week, unless the Liberals have their way.
It is sad to see a well-qualified judge not get a full "Yes" vote from the committee based on partisan politics. Judge Alito should get over 90 votes, but there will the the Liberals who will oppose him no matter what.
They say that Alito is out of the "mainstream". What they really mean is that he does not conform to the Liberal mindset of rulings based on feelings and legislating from the bench.
Judge Alito will be confirmed to sit on the high court, no doubt. But, the Liberals in the Senate will make sure to tarnish his name and President Bush before that will happen.
